Benue Investment Promotion Agency (BENIPA) Objective

To promote Benue State as an investment destination to foreign investors through identification of potential investment opportunities and help establish investment projects in the State.


BENIPA's objective aligns well with my administration‘s plan for Benue State as captured in ―A Strategic Development Plan for a Greater Benue.

Solid Minerals and Mining

GLASS SAND

These mineral is found in Buruku, Gboko, Katsina-Ala, Makurdi and Vandeikya Local Government areas and good for the production of glass and bottles. They are also useful for oil drilling foundry.

BARYTES

Barytes are found in Gboko, Guma, Gwer, Makurdi and Ushongo Local Government Areas. This mineral resource is useful in oil well drilling, production of glass and chemicals.

KAOLIN

Kaolin is a layered silicate mineral is used in ceramics, medicine, coated paper, as a food additive, in toothpaste, as a light diffusing material in white incandescent light bulbs, and in cosmetics. Deposits found in Apa, Ogbadibo, Okpokwu and Vandeikya Local Government areas.

BENIPA

Benue Investment Promotion Agency (BENIPA) is an agency of Benue State Government tasked with the responsibility of attracting investment into the State.

BENIPA seek to achieve this responsibility through the use of marketing activities by creating awareness about the State as an attractive destination for investment

Water supply and irrigation infrastructure projects are essential for providing drinking water, water for agriculture and industrial use, as well as household use.

The Ultra Modern International Market provides services to the financial industry for trading, clearing and settlement, matching of financial transactions, and the Zaki Ibiam International Yam Market is the biggest market for a single product in Nigeria.

Agriculture and Agribusiness

Benue State is blessed with abundant agricultural resources of high quality and often referred to as the "Food Basket of the Nation" due to its fertile soil and favorable climatic conditions. Investing in agriculture and agribusiness can be highly lucrative. Opportunities include cultivation of crops such as rice, yam, cassava, and maize, as well as livestock farming (especially for poultry and fish farming). Additionally, there are rivers and fadama land that can boost irrigated agriculture. Infrastructure investments in irrigation systems, storage facilities, and processing plants can enhance the agricultural value chain.


Yams

Benue is Nigeria's largest yam-producing State, it has an annual production of 1.5 million tons. The State has an iconic yam market with a large supply of agricultural products such as yams, making it one of the largest markets in Africa. The Zaki Biam yam market provides a great source of income to farmers and helps reduce food insecurity in Benue state. The market serves as a platform for farmers to sell their produce at competitive prices and provides access to other food items such as grains, vegetables, and fruits.

Soyabeans

Benue State is a major hub for soybean production in Nigeria, producing over 100 metric tons of beans each year– approximately 30% of the country's total. Benue state is arguably the largest producer of soybeans in Nigeria. There are a lot of soybeans farmers in Benue State. The soil and climate in Benue state supports the growing of soybeans. Soybeans is grown in almost all towns and cities in Benue state.

Sesame

Sesame is an important crop to Nigerian agriculture. It is widely used within. Nigeria and is an important component of Nigeria's agricultural exports. Benue States is the highest sesame producers in Nigeria with an annual average output of not less than 40,000MT

Energy Sector

The available energy resources in Benue State are mainly wood, fossil fuels (petroleum and natural gas) and hydropower. Coal deposits are found in Ogbadibo and Okpokwu Local Government areas and can be exploited by investors for energy/fuel, chemicals etc.
